Creative-in-Residence

We’re looking for our Creative-in-Residence now! Learn more about the opportunity and apply by February 18, 2022.

This residency invites the DAM and our Creative-in-Residence to work together and, most importantly, to work with DAM visitors. The intention of this residency is to expand and extend the practices of established creatives through the opportunity of working within an active museum environment. The residency is six months in total. The beginning of the residency is devoted to exploring the museum environment, collections and temporary exhibitions, and developing ideas for public engagement. The subsequent months of the residency will focus on activity within our gallery spaces and direct engagement with our visitors.

Honorarium and materials stipend are included

Demonstrating Artist Program

The demonstrating artist program takes place in the Studio, a 3000 square foot interactive space, in which visitors are invited to explore the artistic process through hands-on activities. The Studio theme changes 1-2 times per year and ties to an exhibition or campus-wide theme; previous themes include Paint Studio, Print Studio, 3D Studio, Movement Studio, and Flower Studio. In each Studio, we invite local creatives to showcase their work and share their process with our visiting public through weekend art demonstrations. Artists are not required to teach visitors, but rather invite visitors to watch their artistic practice and join them in conversation.

This is a paid opportunity.
