Points of sale

Where can I find an Aribeca sales point?

For an overview of the nearest Aribeca dealer, look at points of sale. By entering your zip code you will see the points of sale in your area.

Where can I take a free test drive?

You can go to all Aribeca dealers for a free test drive. Check the store locator for the nearest Aribeca  sales point. You can of course contact the sales point in advance to make an appointment.

You can also go for a test drive at the Aribeca Experience center in Amsterdam North. The entire Aribeca collection is available here and can be tested. Easily make an appointment online for your test drive.

Is it possible to customize the bicycle after purchase?

Aribeca supplies its electric bicycles as shown on the website. Any adjustments to personal wishes may be made by the authorized Aribeca dealer after purchase. This must always be discussed with the Aribeca dealer. Ask in advance about the options and possible costs to avoid unexpected costs or uncertainties.

Do child seats fit on the Aribeca electric bicycles?

Yes, that is certainly possible. Selected child seats are suitable, depending on whether the MIK or MIK HD rear carrier is fitted to your Aribeca e-bike model (for example, seats from the Yepp or Urban Iki brands). The design took the accessibility of the child seats into account. We recommend that you ask your Aribeca dealer for advice when choosing a child seat. On electric bicycles with a front carrier, it is sometimes not possible to mount a child seat on the front.

Up to how many kilograms can I load my electric bicycle?

Aribeca’s electric bicycles can carry a load of up to 120 kilograms. This means that the total weight of the rider, including luggage, can be a maximum of 120 kg. A front carrier can carry 10 kg. The rear luggage carrier can carry a maximum load of 27 kg, depending on the type of carrier installed.

What should I pay attention to when purchasing an e-bike?

First decide in advance what you want to use the electric bicycle for. For example, is this for commuting? How many kilometers do you want to be able to cycle with it and what landscape are you dealing with? Then determine the correct frame height together with your Alibeca dealer. Additional options include accessories, battery choice and insurance. The latter is strongly recommended by Aribeca. Our 'help me choose' wizard can help you find the right electric bicycle for you.

Is it wise to purchase the bicycle online?

We recommend that you always purchase the electric bicycle from an authorized Alibeca dealer. You can find an overview at points of sale. This Aribeca sales point is also the place where you can go for service and warranty. It may happen that you purchase a Aribeca electric bicycle online from a provider that is not registered as an official Alibeca dealer. Sometimes with a very attractive discount. However, if you wish to claim service and warranty via the same route after purchase, it proves difficult to return the electric bicycle to the company that sold the Aribeca to you.

What is the delivery time of my electric bicycle? The Aribeca dealer can best inform you about the delivery time of a particular bicycle. He has insight into his own stock and that of Aribeca. The delivery time may differ per e-bike model. What is the right frame size for me? When buying a bicycle, choosing the right frame size is important. Measure the inside leg length. When you multiply your inseam length by 0.68, you know the correct frame size. Don't forget to take off your shoes when measuring. If you choose an e-bike with a suspension seat post, you can remove 4 cm from the frame size. The suspension seat post ensures this height difference.

How long is the range of my electric bicycle?

The total distance you can travel per ride with your Aribeca e-bike without charging in between is the range. To properly assess this, you must leave the bicycle/battery on the charger all night. The range must be measured during one trip and not spread over several days.

Battery capacity
The amount of energy in a battery is expressed in Watt-hours (Wh). The number of Watt-hours is calculated by multiplying the nominal Voltage (36V) by the number of Ampere-hours (Ah). The higher the number of Watt-hours, the higher the range.

Calculation example: Suppose the battery has a capacity of 10 Ah and a voltage of 36 Volts. This battery supplies: 10 Ah x 36 V = 360 Wh.

Aribeca supplies bicycles with batteries from 400 Wh to 756 Wh batteries. You can read which battery you have from the bottom of the battery.

Batteries drain slowly, even if the bicycle is not used. When the battery is in the bicycle, it discharges faster than when it is removed and stored indoors.

There are a number of influencing factors that can significantly shorten the range. You can overcome many of these factors so that the range is positively influenced. Ask your dealer for personal advice. Factors influencing range:

      • The total weight (weight of bicycle + rider + load)
      • The resistance (wind force, tire pressure, acceleration, freewheeling, road surface condition and height differences)
      • Your driving behavior (up and down gears in a timely manner and speed)
      • The outside temperature
      • Age of the battery (battery capacity decreases as the battery ages)
      • Using the reinforcement programs

What is the maximum speed with an electric bicycle?

The maximum permitted speed with an electric bicycle in the Netherlands is 25 km/h. All Aribeca e-bikes are adjusted to this speed. The powerful support will make it easier for you to reach higher speeds than you are used to with a regular bicycle. So don’t be surprised, first try the bike in a traffic-calmed environment to get used to the new bike. A higher speed has a negative effect on the possible range.

Can one of the Aribeca e-bikes go faster or further than the other?

It may happen that bicycles purchased at the same time and of the same type provide a different range. New batteries provide at least their specified values. There is a slight variation in this. It is therefore possible that one of the bicycles performs above specifications. The same goes for the support. It may well be that the same Aribeca e-bike provides slightly sportier support than the other.

What is pedal assistance?

The bicycle is equipped with electric pedal assistance. The engine supplements your own efforts, increasing performance while delivering less power. The operation of the pedal assistance depends on whether the pedals are rotated and the cycling speed. If there is no pedalling, the motor does nothing. When starting up, the acceleration offered by the engine is great so that you can easily get started.

What is the difference between a mid, front and rear motor?

E-bikes with a front-wheel motor are often priced lower than an electric bicycle with a mid-motor. The mid-engine drive again has a low center of gravity. Do you want to feel a more fluid and natural drive? Then the rear-wheel motor is highly recommended. Read more about the differences between a front, mid and rear motor here.

How do I enable/disable support?

As soon as the control panel is switched on, the pedal assistance is switched on in position ‘0’. With the ‘PLUS’ and ‘MINUS’ buttons you can increase or decrease the level of assistance. The motor provides assistance in settings ‘1’ to ‘8’, with position ‘8’ providing the highest assistance. You can switch off the pedal assistance by returning the assistance to the ‘0’ position with the ‘MIN’ button on the control panel. Please note that the battery will discharge faster with higher boost than with lower boost.

When is my battery at its strongest capacity?

The capacity will increase for at least the first 10 charging cycles (e.g. up to approximately 1000km with the 625Wh battery) and only then will it reach its full specified capacity. It may happen that the same bicycles purchased at the same time provide a different range. New batteries provide at least their specified values. There is a slight variation in this. It is therefore possible that one of the bicycles performs above specifications.

How long will my battery last?

Like all battery cells, the capacity of Aribeca batteries decreases. A general characteristic of batteries is that they discharge over time and function less well. Aribeca guarantees that the battery will last at least 2 years. Read the warranty conditions or more information about batteries and range.

Can I also cycle without a battery?
When the pedal assistance is off, the bicycle cycles with very little resistance. This means the bicycle can also be used as a normal bicycle. Please note that if you cycle without a battery, the lighting will not work. If the battery is installed in the bicycle, but you leave the support setting at ‘0’, the lighting will work.

How do I get the most out of the battery?

Of all the parts of the electric bicycle, the battery is the most important part. This is mainly because the battery has the shortest lifespan compared to the other parts. Therefore, treat the battery with care. Some tips to help you with this:

      •  When charging the battery, it is important to completely disconnect the charger from the wall socket before connecting the battery.
      •  When you have driven the battery completely empty, it is good for the battery that it is charged again as quickly as possible.
      •  To extend the life of the battery, it is wise not to drive the battery completely empty.
      •  Charge the battery at room temperature.

Read more about charging the battery here.

When is a 1st service necessary?

A first service is recommended after 250 km or after 3 months. Additional servicing is recommended before the cycling season starts or if a long cycling tour is planned.

      • Check wheels and tires (wheel strokes, spoke tension, tire pressure, tire profile)
      • Check all mounting parts/bolts and nuts and tighten if necessary
      • Check brake pads for wear, adjust cable tension, check braking function
      • Check headset for play, check stem mounting, adjust if necessary
      • Clean the chain, tension it, and lubricate it with Teflon spray
      • Electrical system: Fully charge the battery, clean the pedal sensor with lukewarm water and a sponge, treat the contacts with contact spray, grease the battery terminals and battery rails with acid-free Vaseline, check whether everything functions correctly
      • Derailleur: Check that all gears are found smoothly, adjust if necessary

What does a ‘major service’ entail?

Aribeca recommends that the electric bicycle undergo major maintenance at least once a year.

The points of the major maintenance are in addition to a normal service:

      • Dismantle, degrease, lubricate and install chain and cassette
      • Dismantle, clean, re-grease, adjust and assemble hubs
      • Check spoke tension (tighten if necessary) and align the wheels
      • Check and inflate tires
      • Dismantle the bracket axle, clean it (apply new grease if necessary) and install it
      • Check and retighten crankset and pedals
      • Dismantle, clean, lubricate and install derailleur wheels
      • Remove brake and gear inner cables, clean them, apply correct lubricants, install and adjust.
      • Check gear and lubricate shifters
      • Check brakes and lubricate brake levers
      • Check and lubricate the lock
      • Check and lubricate as standard
      • Check and adjust lighting for correct operation
      • Remove the headset, clean it, apply new grease if necessary, assemble and adjust
      • Remove the stem, clean it, re-grease it, install it at the correct height and adjust it
      • Dismantle the seat post, clean it (if necessary apply a layer of acid-free
      • Vaseline) and install it at the correct height
      • Tighten the saddle
      • Provide the bicycle with a protective (wax) layer and rub it out
      • Test drive to properly check all functions

How do I prevent rust on my e-bike?

In addition to regular cleaning, it is wise to treat certain parts immediately after cleaning. For example, we recommend greasing chrome-plated parts, unpainted aluminum and stainless steel parts with acid-free Vaseline to prevent oxidation (rust). Rotating parts require grease/oil. It is recommended to lubricate the chain, sprockets and axles regularly. Your dealer can also do this for you.

How do I clean my electric bicycle?

You can clean your bicycle by first removing the dirt with a soft brush and then washing it with warm water. This way the bike looks like new again. Regular cleaning of the bicycle promotes its lifespan. Be careful with excessive use of water near electronics and the battery. Make sure that no dirt gets between the sensor plate in the sensor (near the bottom bracket). When cleaning the bicycle, it is best to remove the battery from the bicycle. Never use a high-pressure cleaner. Many parts of the bicycle require grease/oil or Vaseline. Do not wash this off or reapply it immediately after washing.

How do I maintain my Aribeca electric bicycle?

Aribeca recommends having the bicycle checked regularly by a dealer.

In addition, Aribeca recommends that the bicycle undergo major maintenance at least once a year. A first service is recommended after 250 km or after 3 months. Additional servicing is recommended before the cycling season starts or if a long cycling tour is planned.

Remember that regular inspections can prevent a lot of unnecessary damage in the long term and therefore also a lot of unnecessary costs.

Of course, you can also contribute to ensuring that the bicycle remains in top condition for as long as possible. Read more about maintaining your e-bike yourself here.

Bad luck can happen to even the best of people. Fortunately, there are many alternatives to be assured of service on the road every year for a small fee. This is to avoid any future annoyances.

Is the bicycle lock ART approved?

Aribeca bicycles are equipped with an ART approved frame lock.

To insure the bicycle you need the following specifications:

      • Brand and type of bicycle: Aribeca, electric bicycle, model name (e.g., Mateo, fiar, naza)
      • Frame number: the unique frame number, often starting with EFX
      • Brand and type ART approved lock: AXA defender or Trelock RS450 (NAZ)
      • Key number: the unique key number
      • Date of purchase: the purchase date of the bicycle

You use the same key for both the battery and the bicycle lock.

What is the ideal height of the handlebars?

The rule of thumb for determining the distance between the handlebars and the saddle is that you should be able to touch the handlebars with your fist while supporting your elbow on the point of the saddle. However, this setting is very personal. Too much distance between saddle and handlebars is often the cause of neck, back and shoulder complaints. We therefore recommend that you adjust the handlebars and saddle to your wishes together with your dealer.

Set handlebars
With a fixed stem you can tilt the handlebars by loosening the Allen screw at the front. The height of the handlebars can be adjusted by loosening the Allen screw on top.

With the quick release stem, you can raise the lever by sliding the lever on the left, making the handlebar adjustable in different directions. With the quick release stem you can adjust the height of the handlebars by tilting the handlebars down to approximately a right angle with the lever up. After this, the Allen screw at the stem tube is visible and accessible, after loosening it you can adjust the height of the handlebars.

Do not forget to tighten the bolts properly and always check whether the handlebars are firmly attached again after the adjustments.

What is the ideal seat height?

The seat height refers to the distance between the seat part of the saddle and the pedal in the lower position. The seat height is set correctly when the knee is slightly bent while your foot is on the pedal (in the down position). Do not hesitate to ask your dealer for advice.

If you can place your feet flat on the ground while sitting on the saddle, the saddle is too low.

Adjust saddle height
The height of the saddle can be adjusted by loosening the Allen bolt at the clamping ring with an Allen key. The safety lines should never be visible after the saddle has been adjusted in height.

Where can I find the manual for my electric bicycle?

When you purchase your e-bike you will receive a manual. This is included in the charger box. All manuals for the Aribeca electric bicycles can also be easily downloaded from our website. View all manuals here.

My bike has been stolen. What now?

That is extremely annoying. Immediately report the theft to the police. For this you need the frame number of the electric bicycle. You can find this in the papers you received with the bicycle. If you have registered the electric bicycle online, you have also received all bicycle data, including the frame number, digitally. If the e-bike is insured, you can then contact the insurance company for further assistance with proof of the declaration.

Where can I find the frame number of my bicycle?

The location of the frame number varies per series of electric bicycles. This number is usually located at the bottom bracket, on the left side of the bicycle. This can be at the bottom or the side of the frame. It is also indicated in the supplied manual.

What are the rules of a speed pedelec?

The speed pedelec has different rules than the regular electric bicycle. Moped traffic rules apply to speed pedelecs. Read more about the speed pedelec regulations here.

What is a Belt Drive?

A Beltdrive is a carbon timing belt that replaces the chain. The Beltdrive is quiet, clean and extremely durable. It does not need to be lubricated and runs very smoothly. With this system you can safely put the bike away after a long trip through wind and weather and then pick up the bike again a few days later for the next trip. Read more about the Beltdrive here.
